Using Blender to design a 3D printed enclosure

As some of you may have seen on Twitter, I am currently building an artificial nose that uses a bunch of gas sensors and some TinyML magic to smell and recognize all sorts of things.

Of course, I can’t help but share my journey with you all, and this time there is an interesting angle to it: I’m actually building and assembling the real “thing” so there is more to this project than using yet another developer kit and a breadboard! As a matter of fact, I recently did a Twitch live stream where I built the nose-shaped enclosure using Blender.

I am no Blender expert, but that might actually be the reason why you may want to watch the recording below: if I managed to build something like this, you may be inspired to create something similar yourself!

Enjoy, and please let me know in the comments if you have questions or suggestions on how to improve the build.

IoT Live Coding: Building an End-To-End Asset Tracking Solution From Scratch

You can now watch the recording of the live coding session I was talking to you about a few days ago.

Don’t forget to check the time codes in the video description for easily navigating through the different parts of the session, as 3 hours straight can be a bit brutal otherwise 😊

3 Hours of live IoT coding on Twitch, tomorrow, May 20!

Tomorrow, May 20, I will be hosting 3 hours of live IoT coding on Twitch, as part of the Microsoft Build conference.

If you want to learn how to go from literally zero to a complete end-to-end IoT application, then you definitely want to tune in!

This is not going to be your typical tech conference talk: I will be building an asset tracking solution from scratch, sharing tons of tips along the way, and answering any questions you may have!

More than a presentation or a workshop, I hope this will be a great conversation with all of you interested in IoT development, whatever your level of expertise might be. I also hope this will be the first occurrence of many more live IoT coding sessions in the near future!

We will be going live at 1pm CEST (that’s 11am GMT). If there are topics you’d like to see covered, please feel free to let me know in the comments!

The live stream will be available through the @microsoftdeveloper Twitch account, or directly through my own Twitch account: @kartben.
